26 april 2009Jeff Van Hooydonk and Koen Wauters offer KRK two poles in Belgian Race Kick Off

KRK obviously doesn’t do things in half measures. Both Jeffrey Van Hooydonk and Koen Wauters clinched pole position in their KRK Dodge Viper during the first meeting of the Belgian GT Championship Mediagroep Van Dyck at Circuit Zolder. A first ever double for the Limburg based team. Behind the Viper it was tough going; in the first session the entire top-6 were within one second and during the second session the top-5 were a mere second from each other. These results prove promising for tomorrow’s races.

“I’m truly satisfied with the result”, a somewhat sick Jeffrey Van Hooydonk commented immediately after his pole at Circuit Zolder. “The car is pretty good and the young team is especially motivated. Let’s not forget that KRK in its present form is only three months old and as such this is a great result.”

Behind the Viper reigning champion Bouvy took second spot in the Delahaye Ferrari, with Duncan Huisman holding the Dutch honour high taking third place in the Kuismanen Competition Ford GT. Vosse finished in fourth in the Aston DBRS9, the Lamborghini Gallardo of Van Der Zwaan grabbing fifth and the brand new Audi R8 of Hemroulle in sixth, resulting in six different makes in the top-6 and this with a time difference of one second. As previously promised the quality is one of the fundamentals of this 2009 edition of the Belgian GT Championship Mediagroep Van Dyck.

The second session was equally nail biting with Koen Wauters coming off as the big winner. “The first pole of my life”, the most famous face in the Belgian GT Championship beamed. “I’m really looking forward to the races tomorrow!”
Behind him Verbergt took a well deserved second place: “The car is improving by the minute and we’re confident for tomorrow. We’re a pretty homogenous team and we’re highly motivated.”
François Verbist in the First Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 Cup S clocked up an excellent third time, following a difficult beginning of the weekend. “We’re still looking for an ideal set-up, but we’re on the right track, as proven by our third place.” Damien Coens and Pertti Kuismanen completed the top-5.

In GT4 the Match Ginetta G50R with Menno Kuus was twice the fastest. Harry Steegmans and Michaël Damoiseaux, both in a Lotus 2 Eleven, completed the top-3 in both sessions.
