Notwithstanding the fact that the winter season brings about various car shows and trade fairs, the teams are bringing back their equipment from Dubai and everyone is fingering through the annuals it is now high time to look ahead to the upcoming racing season. The “Kick Off” of the Belgian GT Championship Mediagroep Van Dyck Belcar will take place at Zolder on 13th April, which is why as per usual we are setting out our various Newsletters allowing us to systematically unveil this new season.
Test Day: rendezvous on 27th March at Zolder
As per usual, the tradition is being fully respected. On Thursday 27th March SRO Belgium and the PRC Group are organising for the second time a test day for the two major national championships of the Belgian track world. Mark this date in your diaries; the GTs will be allowed on the track as from 10:30hrs until 12.00hrs and from 15.00hrs through until 17.00hrs. After this we might have a slight insight into the eventual favourites of the 2008 edition of this championship.
Michelin extends its contract, but amends its contribution towards the teams
As privileged partner of the Mediagroep Van Dyck Belcar, Michelin was able to extend its contract by another two years. Following on from a serious debriefing at the end of the 2007 season, those in charge at the French tyre giant decided to further emphasize the services offered to the various teams. Full details on this particular subject will follow shortly.
In addition the system of premiums - – expressed in tyres – is being altered. The distribution of the sets per team is as follows:
- At the outset of the season each team receives a set
- The distribution of the other ‘free’ sets will take place per Meeting as under:

1) 1st Meeting: to the winners of the 3 Divisions (with a minimum of four competing teams Division)
2) 2de Meeting: to both cars obtaining the pole positions after the two qualifying sessions
3) 3de Meeting: a lottery draw amongst the non-winners of each Division
4) 4de Meeting: to both cars obtaining the pole positions after the two qualifying sessions
5) 5de Meeting: for each competing car in the 24 Hours of Zolder
6) 6de Meeting: to the winners of the 3 Divisions (with a minimum of four competing teams Division)
7) 7de Meeting: a lottery draw amongst the non-winners of each Division
The sets received must be used during the following round, with the exception of the 7th and as such last Meeting.
During the end of season prize giving the laureates (cars) in each Division will also receive a set of tyres for the 2009 season.
