30 september 2007First double for Mosler thanks to Radermecker-Lémeret and Vosse-Lambert
For the second time this season they shared the front row of the grid, and this time around both the Mosler-Chevrolets of Gravity International converted their grid places into a double victory. Radermecker-Lémeret and Vosse-Lambert took the finish line in an inverted order for the penultimate round of the Mediagroep Van Dyck Belcar; in other words victory for the DHL Mosler ahead of the Gulf version.
However in contrast to our introduction, we probably experienced the greatest race of the season. As from the start both Moslers drove in formation in the lead, until three quarters of an hour into the race when the safety car made an appearance – as the result of an off track by the Porsche of Pulinckx at Blanchimont.
The Porsches, which thanks to their autonomy can stagger their pitstops far better over the full race all came in and carried out the scheduled driver change and refuelling. Something which the highly thirsty Mosler, Corvette, Dodge and even Aston can’t even think about after 45 minutes of racing.
Leader Vosse, who in the meanwhile had overtaken his team mate Radermecker, was the first of the Americans to come into the pitlane and was followed one lap later by the Rader. The latter battled with problems ensuing from the power steering and in fact almost ran dry during the last lap. Both MT900s could then from a fifth and sixth place go back out hunting the leaders of the pack.
In the meanwhile Maxime Soulet had taken over the lead, but he also still had to come into the pits. He led the race for some twenty minutes, before handing over to his team mate Guillaume Dumarey. Guillaume immediately went off track and lost valuable time.
The racing journalist Lémeret ook over the lead some twenty minutes from the end and retained same, however his colleague Lambert had to wait until the final round to secure the second spot from a fiery Henk Haane in the Porsche 997 GT3 of First Motorsport. Haane-Stielstra were however, following on from a complaint regarding the conformity of their brakes, excluded from the result.
In Division 2 the champion is known. The NGT 996 Supercup of Bart Couwberghs, supported for the occasion by a fantastic Stef Vancampenhoudt, finished in a (provisional) fourth place and remained ahead of the 997 GT3 of Bouvy – Loix as also Duez – Maes.
But what about the leaders of the championship?
Guillaume Dumarey struggled with the tyres on his Porsche, went off track and finally finished in a ninth place, two behind the Corvette Z06 of Kurt Mollekens, still third before his pitstop, and the Dutchman David Hart.
In Division 3 the AD Porsche 996 Biturbo of Schreurs-Steegmans won, and finished a very handsome eleventh overall. The leaders in the championship, the Thiers brothers, this time round had to throw in the towel when the suspension on their Porsche broke off and they will therefore have to wait until the Zolder race to discover the outcome of the overall battle this season.
