29 september 2007Vincent Vosse on pole, 100% Mosler front row
The two Gravity International Mosler-Chevrolet MT900s grabbed the front row of the grid for the penultimate round of the Mediagroep Van Dijck Belcar. This double clinched during the Francorchampagne meeting is the second of the season after Donington for the cars of Loris de Sordi. Yesterday it was Vincent Radermecker who held the provisional pole. But on Saturday morning he failed to defend his first place and saw his team mate and friend Vincent Vosse, who was just that bit more alert, clinch the pole.
“This was just about the perfect lap”, the smiling replacement of Christian Kelders on the Gulf, who was about two tenths faster than the DHL, commented. “This Mosler is an absolute pleasure to drive, especially here at Spa.”
Vosse-Lambert and Radermecker-Lémeret are now fully aiming at clinching the first double for the GTs straight out of the Martin Short workshops.
The only real referee in this brotherly duel is presently the Corvette Z06 PK Carsport driven by Mollekens-Hart-Kumpen. Mollekens was within 12-hundreth of the front row, but tomorrow he will undoubtedly pull out all the stoppers to make matters as difficult as possible for Rademecker and Vosse.
Notwithstanding his talent Maxime Soulet in the Porsche 997 GT3 of GPR, which he shares with Guillaume Dumarey, had to be satisfied with a fourth place with no less than three seconds off the pole. The present leaders in the championship (with a one and a half point lead over the Corvette) have a horde of Vipers behind them, led by the AD Sport of Kris Wauters and Rafael Vanthoor. Yesterday they lost their times, after the racing guitarist had forgotten, like a few others, to attach his identification chip.
The Aston DBRS9 of Racing for Belgium is back in its grey livery and Coekelbergs-Marchal ended in seventh place, ahead of the 997 Cup of Van Hover-Van Loo, the Daikin Dodge of the ladies and the Prospeed Porsche 997 of Bouvy-Loix, who were more than two seconds down on the fastest Porsche.
German machinery did clinch pole in D2 and D3, where respectively the NGT 996 Supercup of Vancampenhoudt-Couwberghs and the GPR 997 of Dierick-Michel came out on top.
And finally it should be noted that our European rally cross champion Michael Dekeersmaeker skidded off the track at the Raidillon yesterday in the G&A Mosler-Chevrolet and the MT900 has suffered substantial damage, and will not be on the grid tomorrow..
