SRO Motorsports Group, SRO Belgium and Patricia Indekeu
The SRO Motorsports Group was founded by 44 year old Stéphane Ratel from Paris. The Frenchman and racing enthusiast presides over the destiny of the company and is its sole shareholder. Ever since he launched the Venturi sports car series in the early 90's, Ratel has been at the forefront of GT racing in Europe.
Founded in 1995, SRO started out by promoting the Lamborghini Supertrophy before the inception of the FIA GT Championship in 1997. Ten years later, the SRO Motorsports Group employs 25 people and is based in London with offices in Paris, Lausann, Stuttgart and Sao Paulo.
Complementing the running of the FIA GT series, SRO also launched last year the new GT3 category and its official European Championship. A debut year which was met with tremendous success as 48 cars, 9 manufacturers and 18 teams took the tracks.
In 2007, in addition to taking over Belcar (now Belgian GT Championship) in Belgium, the SRO Motorsports Group also launched GT3-series in Germany and Brazil. SRO is also committed to promoting a new promising European Cup series restricted to less expensive and powerful cars denominated GT4. With the ‘GT 90’s Revival Series’, which gathers all those beautiful GT’s of the 90’s, Ratel returns to his old love.
SRO Belgium – Patricia Indekeu
SRO Belgium has been entrusted with the organisation of the Belgian GT Championship. Founded at the beginning of the last year, the SRO Group affiliate is managed by well-known Belgian motor racing personality Patricia Indekeu, who spent many years at the RACB, handling the organisation of the 24 Hours of Spa. Working for the RACB, Patricia was able to get in touch with the teams who were active in both BTCS and the former Belcar.
Next to that Patricia was responsible for the organisation of the Belgian Supermeetings, an idea of the regretted former RACB chairman John Goossens. SRO Belgium’s core business is motor sports, and in 2007 they were also in charge of the launch of the European GT4 Cup. In the meantime SRO Motorsports Group took over the promotion of the European GT4 Cup, in order to allow Patricia Indekeu to fully concentrate herself on the Belgian GT Championship.
The SRO Belgium headquarters are located in Maaseik.
